WATERS READY FOR MONSTROUS SUPERCARS SEASON

Prodrive Racing (Australia)'s Cameron Waters has unveiled his 2017 Monster Energy Racing beast in true Monster Energy style prior to the Clipsal 500 in a pit lane party at the Adelaide Parklands Circuit.

Having already completed his pre-season test day at Sydney Motorsport Park, Waters holds high expectations for his second full-time season, in which he will be joined by co-driver Richie Stanaway for the Pirtek Enduro Cup.

"I am pumped to be representing Monster Energy again this year and having a really good crack at this championship," said Waters. "There are quite a few differences to work with this year but I've spent a lot of time in the off-season preparing for it so I'm well and truly ready to get racing now.

"We learnt heaps at the test day last week. We had a few wrinkles to iron out with the car but that's what the test days are for. With that done we're ready to give Clipsal a real go and try and beat our result from last year."

"It'll be awesome to work with Richie in the enduros this year. He has so much experience and really brings a lot to the team in terms of knowledge so I'm looking forward to working with him."

Stanaway, whose standout performances at the Sandown 500 and Bathurst 1000 last year saw him gain the attention of pit lane, is confident he and his team-mate can get on the podium during the three long-distance races.

"Being here and working with Prodrive Racing again for the second consecutive year is awesome. My experience last year was pretty surreal, particularly at Bathurst, but with more time in these cars I think I can push the bar higher again,' said the 25-year-old Kiwi.

"Working with Cam and the Monster Energy squad this year is a fantastic opportunity. Cam's a great driver and had a great run at Bathurst last year so I am confident that as a pairing we'll be able to challenge the rest of the guys in these big races."
Monster Energy Marketing Director – Oceania, Scott Tabe-Lewis said the pit party was the perfect launching platform.

"We have really stepped up our sponsorship at the Clipsal 500 this year so to launch our 2017 livery here was the perfect fit," said Tabe-Lewis. "It's allowed us to showcase our sponsorship program here this year and take our plans to another level.

"Our motorsport program is a key part of what we do as a brand so to have two young, talented guys in Cam and Richie representing the Monster Energy brand this year is exciting."

Prodrive Racing Team Principal Tim Edwards remains confident in Waters' ability following an up-and-down rookie season.

"Cam had a lot of challenges thrown his way last year and a lot of things not go to plan for him. Amongst that though he put together some great performances so there are no doubts in my mind that Cam will improve further this year," said Edwards.

"He has put in a lot of hard work in the off-season to get in shape both physically and mentally. We’ve changed things up a bit for him this year with a new engineer in Brad (Wischusen) so once that relationship starts to form I think we'll be pleasantly surprised.

"Looking at Richie's performance last year we definitely wanted to keep him with the team so to have him on board this year is great. He fits the Monster brand and he fits in well with the team. He's incredibly composed when it comes to his racing, as is Cam, so they will work together as a great partnership this year."

The #6 Monster Energy FG X hits the track on Friday for the season's opening practice session.
