Family visiting for Christmas get one each. None of it touches the code you use every day, and none of it needs you to remember to change anything once they have gone. The keys light up when pressed, which sounds like a small thing until you are standing at a gate at six in the morning in winter trying to find the seven. It carries an IP55 rating, meaning protected against dust and against water sprayed from any direction, and it is rated to work from minus 20 up to 60 degrees Celsius, so a Sydney summer on a west facing wall is well inside its range.

One limitation to be clear about: it controls one opener. A single gate or a single garage door, not four. If you need one pad running several doors, that is a different product and worth a phone call.

A fresh code is generated on every activation. The box holds a 9V lithium battery, two keys and the instructions. A 9V lithium is a rectangular block cell rather than a coin cell, and it is the right chemistry for something mounted outdoors, since it holds voltage in the cold far better than an alkaline.
