About the Merlin PLUS compatible remote handset 434MHz
That label matters more here than on almost anything else we stock, because we carry a second Key Guys Merlin handset that is the same size, the same shape, the same price and the same four buttons on the same frequency. The other one is the Merlin compatible remote handset 434MHz (The Key Guys), and it is labelled KGMR01. The two are not interchangeable. Nothing about holding one in your hand tells you which of the two you need. The printing on the case does, and it is usually on the back.
The two exist because Merlin equipment divides into the earlier Merlin range and the later Merlin PLUS range. This one is the PLUS handset, and it codes into the Merlin PLUS motors in the MT and MR series. On the tilt and sectional side that is the MT range, taking in units such as the MT60 and MT60P, the MT230, the MT600, the MT800, the MT1000, the MT3850 and the MT5580. On the roller door side it is the MR range, including the MR600 and MR600A, the MR650, the MR800 and MR800A, the MR850 and the MR1000. If your opener or your existing remote belongs to the earlier range instead, the KGMR01 is the one to order.
There is a boundary at the top of that range as well as the bottom, and it is the one people fall over. Merlin PLUS is not Merlin+ 2.0, and it is not the EVO generation that followed. If the remote you are replacing has Merlin+2.0 printed on the front, or your motor carries an EVO suffix such as MT60EVO or MR850EVO, this handset sits on the wrong side of the line and our genuine Merlin+ 2.0 listings are where to look instead. Being one generation out is by far the most common reason a Merlin remote arrives and will not code.
A useful shortcut if the paperwork is long gone. The motor model is normally printed on a label on the head unit, the part hanging from the garage ceiling or sitting beside the roller door drum, and it can be read from the floor with a phone camera and a bit of zoom. Two letters and a number is all you need.
Four independently coded buttons mean it can run up to four doors or gates, which suits a house with a garage and a separate driveway gate, or a household sharing one handset across two roller doors.
The battery is a 27A cell, fitted before it leaves our Sydney warehouse, and the compartment needs a tool to open rather than a thumbnail. The 27A is cylindrical, roughly the size of a small fuse, so it is not covered by the coin battery rules and is easy to find when it eventually goes flat.
This is an aftermarket remote. It is not manufactured, authorised, endorsed or approved by Merlin.
If the label on your old remote has worn away, or there never was one, photograph the front and the back of the handset and send it to service@allgate.com.au. Telling a KGMPR02 from a KGMR01 by eye is not reliable, and we would much rather look at a photograph than have you guess between two remotes that cost the same and do not do the same job.

Battery safety
This product is supplied with a 27A battery, which is not a coin battery. Keep new and used batteries out of reach of children, and dispose of used batteries safely. A flat battery can still cause harm.
