About the Merlin+ C945 Genuine Remote

This page exists mostly to stop one specific mistake, so here it is first. The C945 and the newer Merlin+ 2.0 E945/E945M are the same physical remote. Same short rounded case, same three buttons, same green on black, and the same published dimensions of 3.68 cm by 6.02 cm by 1.28 cm. Put them side by side on a bench and you cannot tell which is which. They speak to different motors.

There are two ways to settle it and both take seconds. The first is the front of the remote you already own: the newer one has Merlin+ 2.0 printed on it and this one does not. The second is the label on the motor head itself, which is the better test if the printing on your old handset has worn off. Merlin's newer generation carries EVO or MYQ inside the model code and the generation this remote belongs to never does.

If the old remote is lost and the motor is out of reach, do not guess between the two. Ring us on 1300 736 683 and describe what is on the motor or send a photograph, because these two listings sit at the same money and ordering the wrong one costs a fortnight rather than a dollar.

On what it drives, the C945 spans more than garages. The sliding gate motors MGS300, MGS500, MGS500T, MGS1000 and MGS1000T are on its list, as are the MGL300 and MGL400 swing gates and the MGA600 XLR8 Wingmate 3. On doors it takes the MR60, MR600, MR600A, MR650, MR800, MR800A, MR850 and MR1000 rollers, the MT60, MT60P, MT230, MT600, MT800, MT1000, MT5580 and MT5580P sectional and tilt units and the MT3850 Whisper Drive, plus the MJ3800 and MJ3800R, the ML500, ML700 and ML750, and the MLR500, MLR750 and MLR850. The CB22 control board and the LM800AMT are on it as well, and it codes alongside another C945.

A CR2032 is supplied fitted and the cover needs a tool to open.

One habit worth adopting the moment the new one is coded in. Write C945 on the back of it in marker. In two years, when a third handset is needed and the printing has rubbed off, that is the difference between a phone call and a guess.
