What makes it worth reading past the price is not the garage door list, which several other Merlin handsets share. It is the gates.

This is the only Merlin remote here published against Merlin's current gate range. The MGA Swing A 200 and the MGLX Swing L 300 for swing gates, the MRGLSK Swing LR 500, and the MGSK600 Slide 600 for sliding gates are all on its list and on none of the others. A property with a Merlin garage motor at the house and a Merlin gate at the street can therefore run both from one handset, which is the whole argument for buying this one rather than a cheaper sibling and then a second remote.

It also reaches the newest Commander units. Alongside the MS65MYQ Essential, MS105MYQ Elite and MS125MYQ Extreme that the rest of the range covers, this listing adds the MS127MYQ Extreme II, the MS135MYQ Platinum and the MS137MYQ Platinum II. If your motor carries one of those three names, check carefully before buying anything else in the Merlin range.

On the older Merlin+ side it reaches the MR60 through MR1000 rollers, the MT60 through MT3850 sectional and tilt units, the MJ3800 and MJ3800R, the MGA600, the MGL300 and MGL400, the MGS500 through MGS1000T, the ML500 and ML700, the MLR750 and MLR850, and the HE60 and HE60R.

It codes alongside the E943, E945, E950M, E970M, E975M and E980M handsets, which matters because those are the remotes it will be sharing a receiver with. Power is a CR2032 behind a screwed cover, a fresh code goes out on each press, and a key ring and the instruction sheet are packed with it.

If you have a Merlin gate as well as a Merlin garage door, program the gate onto a button you will not hit by accident on the way into the garage. Four channels sounds like plenty until the gate is on the button beside the door and the driveway starts opening every time you come home.
