About the Merlin+ 2.0 E840M Genuine Keypad

One check before you order, and it is the one that matters most on this product. The E840M is a Security+ 2.0 keypad. It suits Merlin+ 2.0 openers and it does not suit the earlier Merlin+ generation. That is different from the Merlin handheld remotes, several of which code to both eras, so owning a remote that works is not evidence that this keypad will.

Working through the openers it suits: the Steel-Line ST50EVOB, ST50EVOB1 and ST50EVOC, the MRC950EVO Overdrive, the Powerace MT60EVO and the EntryLift MT50EVO, the CyclonePro MT120EVOPS, the Tiltmaster MT100EVO and the Whisperdrive MT3850EVO. Then the Commander range as MT110MYQ myQ, MS125MYQ Extreme, MS105MYQ Elite, MS65MYQ Essential and MJ3800MYQ Ultimate. Then the Silentdrive and Quietdrive units, being the MR855MYQ Elite, MR855EVO Pro, MR850EVO, MR655MYQ Essential, MR655EVO Quietdrive Pro and MR650EVO, alongside the MR550EVO Weatherdrive. Finally the Chamberlain four, the CS100EVO Powerlift Plus, CS60EVO Powerlift, CR655MYQ Rollerlift and CR625EVO HandyLift Plus 2.0.

A keypad solves a specific and very common problem: somebody needs to get in and giving them a remote or a key is the wrong answer. Children arriving home before their parents. A cleaner who comes on Thursdays. A relative staying for a fortnight. Anyone who runs or cycles and would rather not carry keys at all. You hand over a number, and you change the number whenever you like.

It is wireless, so it talks to the opener the way a remote does and needs no cable run back to the motor. It can go on the door frame, the wall or a post. Closed it measures roughly 6.31 cm wide, 11.83 cm long and 2.88 cm deep, and the cover lifts to make it about 19.64 cm long. Mounting it somewhere with a little shelter from the weather will add years to it.

The coding is rolling, generating a new code from over one hundred billion possibilities every time a PIN is entered, so the signal cannot be captured and replayed. The battery is a 9V block cell, fitted before dispatch, and the coding instructions are in the box with it. That is the rectangular type, not a coin cell, so a replacement can be picked up anywhere batteries are sold.
