About the Merlin+ 2.0 E148M Genuine Wall Button

Every other wall button on this shop asks you to work out which generation your opener belongs to before you order. This one does not, and that is the whole argument for it.

The two generations are two different radio systems rather than two versions of one. Merlin+ works on 433 MHz. Merlin+ 2.0 works on 434.54 MHz. A transmitter built for one is simply deaf to the other, which is why a handset that opened a garage for a decade does nothing at all when the motor is replaced. The E148M holds coding for both, so one plate on one wall can operate a roller door fitted in 2012 and a sliding gate fitted last year without either being touched.

Four buttons on the plate means four coded channels, and on this particular unit those four can be split across the two generations. A Merlin+ roller door on one button, a Merlin+ 2.0 gate on another, and two left for whatever is added later. No other wall control on this shop can hold that combination, which is the reason to put this one at the door everybody walks through rather than the cheapest plate that fits.

On the Merlin+ 2.0 side it covers the roller door motors, being the MR550EVO Weatherdrive, the MR650EVO and MR850EVO Silent Drive, the MR655EVO Quietdrive Pro, the MR655MYQ Silentdrive Essential, the MR855EVO Silentdrive Pro, the MR855MYQ Silentdrive Elite, the MRC950EVO Overdrive and the CR655MYQ Rollerlift. On the sectional and tilt side it covers the CR625EVO HandyLift Plus 2.0, the CS60EVO Powerlift, the CS100EVO Powerlift Plus, the MT50EVO EntryLift, the MT60EVO Powerace, the MT100EVO Tiltmaster, the MT120EVOPS CyclonePro, the MT3850EVO Whisperdrive, the MS65MYQ Commander Essential, the MS105MYQ Commander Elite, the MS125MYQ Commander Extreme, the MJ3800MYQ Commander Ultimate and the MT110MYQ Commander myQ. Three Steel-Line units are on the list as well, the ST50EVOB, the ST50EVOB1 and the ST50EVOC, and it codes alongside the E943, E945 and E950M handsets.

On the Merlin+ side it reaches back to the MR60, MR600, MR600A, MR650, MR800, MR800A, MR850 and MR1000 roller motors, the MT60, MT60P, MT230, MT600, MT800, MT1000, MT3850 and MT5580 sectional and tilt motors, the MJ3800 and MJ3800R, the MGA600, the MGL300 and MGL400 swing gate motors, the MGS500, MGS500T, MGS1000 and MGS1000T sliding gate motors, the ML500 and ML700, the MLR750 and MLR850, and the HE60 and HE60R. It also codes alongside a C945 handset.

The coding is rolling, so a new code is produced on every press. The cell is a CR2032, fitted before it leaves us and sitting behind a screwed cover. Screws and coding instructions are packed with it.

If this plate is going to serve two motors of different vintages, write the channel assignment on the inside of the battery cover before it goes on the wall. A household guessing which button belongs to the gate will press both, and on a gate already halfway through a cycle that second press is the one that stops it in the driveway.
