Two checks settle it, and both are on the remote in your hand. The button should be red rather than blue, which separates it immediately from the M800 and M802 handsets that look otherwise similar. And the word Merlin should be printed on the front of the case. That second check sounds trivial and is not. Red button transmitters of this shape were sold under several names, and it is the Merlin marked one this listing replaces.

The published list covers the red button M2100, the 2500 Powerlift, the 2600P Powerlift, the M230T Prolift and the M430R Prolift.

Those two Powerlift entries are the reason this page exists on its own. If the motor above your door is a 2500 or a 2600P, this is the listing that names it, and the blue button remotes elsewhere in our Merlin range do not. Buying by button colour alone would send you to the wrong one.

The era limits are the same as the rest of this generation. Nothing green, nothing on Merlin+, nothing on Merlin+ 2.0, and nothing manufactured after July 2001.

It transmits on 40.685 MHz, operates a single door and carries an LED that confirms the press. The case is black and slim, about 3.47 cm wide, 5.55 cm long and 1.5 cm deep, sized for a visor clip. A 23A 12V battery comes fitted, in a compartment that opens with a tool rather than a thumbnail.

Merlin has no hand in this handset. It is not manufactured, authorised, endorsed or approved by Merlin.

If the red button remote you are holding carries no branding on the front at all, do not assume it is simply a worn M2100. Photograph the front and the back and send both to service@allgate.com.au before ordering. Red button handsets are the most widely copied part of this generation, and what separates them is on the case rather than in the hand.
