About the Merlin M2000/M2500L/M2200 Compatible Remote
Read the back of your existing remote before anything else. It needs to say 339.9 MHz. Merlin also sold an M2200 on 303 MHz, which looks much the same from across a kitchen bench and will not work with this one. If yours reads 303, the page you want is the Merlin M2200 303MHz Compatible Remote instead. Two different radios, one model number, and the print on the back is the only thing that tells them apart.
Copying takes a minute or so with both handsets in your hands, following the instructions in the box. Nothing is opened, nothing is set inside the motor, and the opener itself is never touched, which is why a duplicator is the cheapest way to add a second remote to an older system.
It also means this remote is no use at all if you have lost every remote you own. There is nothing to copy from. If that is your situation, ring 1300 736 683 and we will work out what your motor needs, because on equipment of this age the answer is sometimes a receiver rather than another handset.
Worth being straight about the security position too. This generation uses fixed coding, so the same code goes out on every press rather than changing each time as a modern rolling code remote does. That was normal when these openers were sold and it is inherent to the system, not a shortcoming of this remote. Copying a fixed code remote reproduces the security you already have. If that concerns you, the fix is a modern receiver and handset, which is a job rather than a purchase, and one an Allgate technician can quote.
The handset has four buttons, so it can hold codes for up to four doors or gates, and it comes with a keychain fitted. It measures about 3.5 cm wide, 5.5 cm long and 1.5 cm deep, in a heavy duty case built for a set of keys rather than a drawer. Power is a 27A 12V cell, fitted before dispatch, behind a cover that needs a tool. A 27A is a small cylindrical battery, not a coin cell.
This is a compatible part and not a Merlin one. It is not manufactured, authorised, endorsed or approved by Merlin, and we reserve the word genuine for handsets that come from the brand itself.
Openers of this vintage have been running for a long time, and a remote that has become unreliable is occasionally the receiver rather than the handset. If a freshly copied remote behaves no better than the old one, that is the thing to look at next.

This product is supplied with a 27A 12V battery, which is not a coin battery. Keep new and used batteries out of reach of children, and dispose of used batteries safely. A flat battery can still cause harm.
