The test is visual and it is the only one that matters here. Your existing remote has to be identical to the round red unit shown on the left of the main product image. If yours is a different shape, a different colour, or rectangular rather than round, this is not the part, and Grifco's other ranges are covered by different listings entirely. One published detail is worth the page on its own. This compatible handset carries an LED indicator and the original Grifco remote did not. That is rare. Aftermarket parts usually match the original or fall slightly short of it, and here you get something back: a light that confirms the button actually transmitted. On a commercial site, where the first question when a door does not move is whether the fault is at the remote or at the motor, that light saves an argument and sometimes a call out.

It runs AM transmission with rolling code, generating a new code every use from a pool of over one hundred billion, so the signal cannot be recorded in a car park and replayed later. It transmits on 433 MHz and carries three channels, so one handset can run up to three doors or gates.

The case is small at roughly 3 cm by 6 cm by 1 cm, sized for a pocket or a key chain. A CR2032 coin cell comes fitted, behind a cover that needs a tool, and coding instructions and a key ring are in the box. Third party testing against AS62368.1 is published for it.

This is a compatible remote and Grifco had nothing to do with making it. It is not manufactured, authorised, endorsed or approved by Grifco.

Grifco equipment tends to sit on commercial and strata property rather than on houses, and a handset that has failed is often one of several on a site where nobody is quite sure how many are still in circulation. If that describes your building, it is worth clearing the receiver and recoding from scratch rather than adding one more remote to an unknown number.
