About the Compatible Aftermarket B&D To Suit Auto Openers AOBD
Most of what this remote covers is a plain yes or no, settled by reading a model number off a motor plate. Two entries on its published list are not settled that way. Both are decided by walking out to the garage and looking at something.
The first is the RDO-1V1 Diamond Power Drive. This handset is published against that motor only where the antenna leaving the motor head is white. Any other colour is a different arrangement and takes a different remote. Worth knowing before you generalise: the same colour test runs the opposite way on the RDO-1V2, which we cover on its own listing, so a white wire is not a rule about B&D and there is no substitute for actually looking.
The second is the Controll-A-Door 4. It is on the list, but not where the remote you use for it has two buttons with ridges or grooves running down the left one. That shell is the 062150, excluded here by name as well. It is the most common single reason a correctly chosen B&D remote never codes, and checking costs nothing before the order rather than after the parcel lands.
Three further exclusions need no trip outside. A handset marked 27 MHz belongs to an earlier era. A handset with a bank of small switches inside is fixed code rather than rolling. A dark navy case is not this family.
What remains is a long list, and it reads most easily by drive family. The roller and sectional units are the RDO-2V1EL Econolift, the RDO-2V1SM, the GDO-4V3 EL Easylifter, EL4, EL5, EL R and the B&D BM4. The builder specified units are FIRMAMATIC SDO and FIRMAMATIC RDO with FAM4, FAM5, FAM P, FAM R and FAM RDO beside them. The retail units are the Controll-A-Door 4, 5, R, P and Shed Master. The handsets and receivers it stands in for or joins are the HE60BD, the 059215, and 059116, 059120, 062162, 062170, 062200, 062266, 062402 and 062506.
It runs rolling code on 433 MHz across four openings and measures 3.0 cm by 5.5 cm by 1.2 cm. The 27A 12V cell is fitted before dispatch and the compartment opens with a tool. A key ring is included.
