If the remote you are holding reads Code Ezy, this is its direct replacement and there is nothing further to work out. If it does not, the reason to choose this one is the same reason to choose any of them: Code Ezy handsets are stocked across Merlin, ATA and B&D, so a property running more than one brand of opener can standardise on remotes that match. What it operates is broad. Merlin+ equipment of this generation spans roller door openers in the MR series, sectional and tilt openers in the MT series, sliding gate motors in the MGS series, linear swing gate openers in the MGL series, the MGA600 XLR8 Wingmate 3, the MJ3800 garage openers, the Chamberlain LM800AMT and MLR units, the ML MotorLift range and the CB22 control board. Ruled out: EVO motors, and any handset with Merlin+2.0 printed on the front. Those belong to the generation after this one and will not talk to it in either direction.

The coding is rolling rather than fixed, generating a new code on each press. It transmits on 433 MHz, operates up to three doors, and is a slim unit at roughly 3 cm by 6 cm by 1 cm that sits comfortably on a key ring. A CR2032 coin cell is fitted before it leaves us and the cover over it needs a tool. Third party testing against AS62368.1 is published for this model.

Code Ezy is an aftermarket brand and not Merlin. This handset is not manufactured, authorised, endorsed or approved by Merlin.

One thing to settle before you order rather than after. A bear claw remote and a Merlin+ 2.0 remote can look similar enough in a photograph that people order across the gap. The word to look for is on the front of your existing handset, and if it says Merlin+2.0 anywhere, stop and call 1300 736 683 before spending anything.
