About the B&D WTB-6 Genuine Wall Remote (supplied as WTB-8v1)
This page carries a caveat the rest of the group does not need, and it is much better said here than discovered after delivery. The motor list our supplier publishes against the B&D wall remotes is shorter than the list published against the B&D handsets. The handset listings name the SDO-6 Secure, the SDO-7 Smart, the SDO-8 PanelMax and the SDO-1 V2 P. The wall remote listings name none of those four.
Other B&D dealers do put those motors against their wall remotes, and the likely explanation is an incomplete supplier list rather than a real incompatibility, because the wall unit and the handset are the same radio coding into the same receiver. Likely is not the same as confirmed. We will not promise on a product page something the supplier does not publish, so if your opener is a Secure, a Smart, a PanelMax or an SDO-1 V2 P, call 1300 736 683 before ordering and we will check it against your actual motor rather than against a list.
What the wall remote listings do publish is the RDO-1V3 Roll-A-Pro, the RDO-1V4 PD, the SDO-2V2 ADV, the SDO-2V2 PD, the SDO-2V3 Prodigy, the SDO-3V2 CADS Controll-A-Door S, the SDO-3V2 WE and the SDO-4V1 PanelPro, together with systems already running a TB6.
It arrives with a CR2032 fitted and with mounting screws included, so nothing further has to be bought to get it onto a wall. The battery cover is screwed shut.
Do not assume the replacement lands on the old fixings. Hold the new plate against the wall and mark through it rather than trusting the holes the previous unit left behind, and check the buttons are reachable by whoever in the household is shortest before the drill comes out.
It is worth thinking about which side of the door the old one was on. A wall remote inside the garage is a convenience. A wall remote outside it is a security decision, because anybody who can reach the button can open the door. If the unit you are replacing was mounted outside, this is a good moment to bring it in and let a handset or a keypad handle entry from the street instead.
