About the B&D TB5v2 Genuine Remote (supplied as TB-7v1)
The buttons are how you tell a TB5v2 from everything around it, and it is the one identification test in this family that works from across a room. This model has a red case with grey buttons. The TB5v1 before it, part 62731, uses the same red case with black buttons. The red TB6 that followed, part 62871, is red with black buttons again. So on a red B&D handset, grey means a TB5v2, and black means either a TB5v1 or a TB6.
Good news for anyone squinting at a worn remote in poor light: it does not change what you order. The current handset takes over from the TB5v1, the TB5v2, both TB6 finishes, the 062730 and the 70241. All of them resolve to the same unit, so getting the identification wrong within that group costs you nothing at all.
Where it does matter is the boundary underneath the TB5. B&D handsets older than this line run on 27 MHz or are coded with a bank of small switches inside the case, and no Tri-Tran remote will operate them whatever colour it is. If the number on the back of yours falls in the 059 or 062 series, our B&D 059120 Genuine Remote is the listing to read instead. If it opens up to reveal a row of tiny switches, neither listing suits it and it is worth a phone call before you spend anything.
