B&D Red TB6 Genuine Remote (supplied as TB-7v1)

The B&D Red TB6 Genuine Remote is the red cased version of the four button Tri-Tran handset, carried by B&D as part 62871 alongside the black 62872. It shipped on the same roller door and sectional door openers as its black twin, and the two were sold in parallel rather than one following the other. B&D has replaced both with the TB-7v1, and the TB-7v1 is what we dispatch against this listing. It may arrive in a red case or a black one. B&D carries the red as part 100510 and the black as part 100511, and which of the two is packed comes down to what our supplier holds on the day.

About the B&D Red TB6 Genuine Remote (supplied as TB-7v1)

Colour is the thing people worry about here and it is the thing that matters least. Red and black carry identical electronics, transmit on the same Tri-Tran channels and code into the same receivers. A household running one of each is running the same remote twice. B&D offered two finishes so that one door's handset could be told apart from another's, which is still a good reason to keep them different if you have more than one door.

Because the case is cosmetic, empty replacement enclosures for this generation are sold separately by parts suppliers, and it is fair to ask whether you need a whole remote at all. The test is what actually failed. A cracked case, a broken key ring lug or lettering worn off the buttons is a shell problem, and the board inside is probably fine. A remote that works at two metres and not at ten, or that needs two presses to do anything, has an electronic or a contact fault, and putting a good case around a tired board buys you nothing. If you are unsure which of the two you have, call the office on 1300 736 683 and describe the symptom rather than the damage.

The opener list is the standard Tri-Tran one. RDO-1V3 Roll-A-Pro, RDO-1V4 PD, SDO-1 V2 P, SDO-2V2 ADV, SDO-2V2 PD, SDO-2V3 Prodigy, SDO-3V2 CADS, SDO-3V2 WE, SDO-4V1 PanelPro, SDO-6 Secure, SDO-7 Smart and SDO-8 PanelMax. It also stands in for a TB5v2 or a TB6 already coded to any of them.

The battery is a CR2032, fitted here before dispatch, behind a screwed cover.

One thing owners of red remotes get wrong often enough to be worth stating. A red B&D handset is not automatically a Tri-Tran handset. B&D used red on the 70241 and on other generations before this one, and those older units are a different radio altogether. The number on the back settles it in a second. The colour never does.
