B&D Compatible Remote

The B&D Compatible Remote is an aftermarket replacement handset for B&D openers running rolling code on 433 MHz, and this listing carries the widest published model list of any B&D remote we stock. That breadth is the difficulty as much as the point, because B&D put four separate naming systems on the same radio over the years and most people know their opener by only one of them.

This will not suit every B&D opener. It does not work with 27MHz remotes, with remotes that have DIP switches inside, with dark navy remotes, or with the 062150, which looks similar but has ridges on the left button. If you are not sure, call us on 1300 736 683 and we will check it with you.

Standard tracked shipping $12.00 in 2 to 6 business days, express $15.00 in 1 to 3 business days. Not sure this is the right part? Send a photograph of the front and back of your existing unit to service@allgate.com.au and we will confirm it before you buy.

About the B&D Compatible Remote

The first name is a bare part number, stamped on the back of the old remote or moulded into the case. If the number in your hand is 059116, 059120, 062162, 062170, 062200, 062266, 062402 or 062506 then you are on the right page. Several of those are published with a suffix as well, being 062162/4335EBD, 062170/433EBD, 062170/4330EBD, 062170/4333EBD, 062200/4410EBD, 062266/G4330EL, 062402/4400ECE and 62102/440EBD, and the 059215 plug in receiver belongs to the same family.

The second name is Controll-A-Door, which is what went on the box in retail. The 4, the 5, the R, the P and the Shed Master are all covered, and the 062506 is that same Controll-A-Door P wearing its part number instead.

The third name is Firmamatic, which tends to appear on openers specified by a builder rather than bought off a shelf. FIRMAMATIC SDO and FIRMAMATIC RDO are on the list, and so are the FAM4, FAM5, FAM P, FAM R and FAM RDO units that sit beside them.

The fourth is the drive name itself. That takes in EL4, EL5 and EL R, the GDO-4V3 EL Easylifter, the RDO-2V1EL Econolift, the RDO-2V1SM, the RDO-1V1 Diamond Power Drive, the HE60BD and the B&D BM4 sectional opener.

Appearing on one of those four lists is necessary rather than sufficient. Three things rule this remote out whichever name your opener wears: a handset marked 27 MHz, a handset with a row of small switches inside it, and a handset in dark navy. There is also a lookalike, the 062150, close enough in the hand to fool anybody and not covered here. If you are not certain, ring 1300 736 683 and read us the number off the back.

The remote holds four openings, so a garage door, a driveway gate and a second door can share one case. It measures 3.0 cm across, 5.5 cm long and 1.2 cm deep. The 27A 12V cell arrives fitted behind a cover that needs a tool, and a key ring is in the box.

This handset is compatible with B&D equipment without being a B&D product. It is not manufactured, authorised, endorsed or approved by B&D.

Whichever of the four names brought you here, write the part number from the old handset somewhere you will find it again. Labels on B&D motor heads fade badly in a garage roof space, and in five years the number on a remote is often the only surviving record of what was installed.

Battery safety

This product is supplied with a 27A 12V battery, which is not a coin battery. Keep new and used batteries out of reach of children, and dispose of used batteries safely. A flat battery can still cause harm.

Delivery, returns and fitting

Shipping costs and delivery times are shown beside the Add to cart button above. Unused parts can be returned by post within 30 days of purchase for a full refund, with return postage paid by you. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law apply on top of that, so if the part you receive turns out not to suit your opener, call us before you program it and we will work out what does. Our full terms of sale are set out on the Allgate terms and conditions page.

Most customers fit and code a new part themselves in a few minutes using the instructions supplied. If you would rather have it done, an Allgate technician can program and test it on site anywhere we work, which is every suburb listed on the Sydney service areas page.

Not sure the B&D Compatible Remote is the right part?

Buying the wrong remote is the most common mistake we see, and it is almost always avoidable with one photograph. Send a clear shot of the front and the back of your existing unit, plus one of the motor if you can reach it safely, to service@allgate.com.au and our team will tell you exactly which part suits your opener. If you would rather talk it through, our domestic line is 1300 736 683, Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm. Commercial and strata customers can reach a technician on 1300 655 600 at any hour, on any day.

You can also search the catalogue by the model number printed on your existing handset, which is the fastest way to find the match yourself.
