Order it by the label. Your existing remote should look identical to the one pictured, the button colours should match, and it should read KGBDTR02. Where the label says KGBDR01 instead, the handset you want is the BnD Compatible Remote Handset 434MHz, which is the standard B&D unit at the same price and is not a substitute for this one.

Tri-Tran is the word to look for, and it is printed on the opener or on the installer's sticker far more often than on the remote. Where a B&D motor carries it, this is the handset for that door.

Four buttons are coded separately, so one unit can run up to four doors or gates. Because it spans both systems, a property with a B&D Tri-Tran door and an ATA TriCode gate can in principle work from this single handset rather than carrying one for each. Ring 1300 736 683 and describe both motors before you rely on that, since it is worth confirming against your own equipment rather than assuming.

The battery is a 27A 12V, fitted before the handset is packed, under a cover that needs a tool. That is a slim cylinder rather than one of the flat coin cells, and it is a size most supermarkets and hardware shops carry. Send a flat one to a battery recycling point.

This is a compatible handset rather than a B&D or an ATA product. It is not manufactured, authorised, endorsed or approved by either manufacturer.

One consequence of the label rule catches people out regularly. Handsets of this type were handed over by installers, sometimes with a company sticker across the face, so the printing you need can be sitting underneath something else.
