The numbers make the case. It measures 3.22 cm wide, 6.01 cm long and 0.95 cm deep. The other compatibles for the same openers are 1.2 cm thick and the genuine ATA handset is nearly 1.5 cm. Under a centimetre is the difference between a remote that disappears into a pocket alongside a phone and one you are aware of all day. On a key ring shared with a car key and a house key, it is the one that stops the bunch getting unwieldy.

The battery is a 23A 12V cell, supplied fitted, behind a compartment that needs a tool to open. That is a cylindrical cell rather than a flat one, which is the same arrangement as the rest of this range and means a spare is easy to pick up alongside the groceries.

The case is blue, and it is the only blue one in this range. If you are comparing listings on a phone screen and losing track of which ATA SecuraCode compatible you are looking at, the colour settles it a good deal faster than the model code does.

Compatibility is the standard SecuraCode list: the CRX-1 and CRX-2 receivers, the GDO-2v5, GDO-2v6 and GDO-2v7 SecuraLift, the GDO-4v3 through GDO-4v6 EasyRoller, the GDO-6v1 and GDO-6v2 Slim Drive EasyRoller, the GDO-7v1 SecuraLift, the GDO-8v1 and GDO-8v2 EasyRoller II, and the GDO-9v1 SecuraLift. PTX5 remotes are excluded.

Four independently coded buttons, rolling code on 433 MHz, and a key ring included. Functionally it does everything the thicker handsets in the range do.

It is a compatible part. It is not manufactured, authorised, endorsed or approved by Automatic Technology Australia.

One honest note about the thing that makes this handset attractive. A case under a centimetre deep has less material in it than a thicker one, and a remote that lives in a pocket with a set of keys takes more punishment than one that sits in a car door. Slim is the right choice for a key ring. It is not the right choice for a work site.
