ATA PTX-4 Genuine Remote

The ATA PTX-4 Genuine Remote is the blue cased four button handset made by ATA itself, and it is the remote every compatible in this range is built to imitate. Blue shell, grey buttons, red indicator light. If that is what you are holding, this is the original.

About the ATA PTX-4 Genuine Remote

Those two colours are the identification worth memorising, because the aftermarket versions of this handset have appeared in grey, red and pink over the years. Blue case with grey buttons means ATA made it.

It suits the CRX-1 and CRX-2 receivers, the GDO-2v5, GDO-2v6 and GDO-2v7 SecuraLift, the GDO-4v3 through GDO-4v6 EasyRoller, the GDO-6v1 and GDO-6v2 Slim Drive EasyRoller, the GDO-7v1 SecuraLift, the GDO-8v1 and GDO-8v2 EasyRoller II, and the GDO-9v1 SecuraLift.

PTX5 remotes are excluded, and that one line is the most important sentence on this page. It divides ATA's 433 MHz range in two, and a customer on the wrong side of it will buy a remote that never codes. Our Code Ezy ATA PTX-4 Compatible Remote page explains how to tell which side you are on.

ATA publish the programming method for this handset where they do not for the copies: learn to receiver. You put the motor into learn mode and press the button, and the receiver stores the remote. Nothing is set inside the handset, no switches, no copying from another remote. It means a household that has lost every remote it owns can still be served, so long as somebody can reach the motor to put it into learn mode.

The coding is rolling, so a new code goes out on every press and a device that records the signal in your driveway cannot use it later.

It is a compact unit at roughly 3.59 cm wide, 6.82 cm long and 1.46 cm deep, running four independently coded channels from a 23A 12V cell that comes fitted. The 23A is cylindrical rather than a coin cell and the compartment needs a tool. Note that the genuine handset ships with the battery and the instructions but no key ring, where several of the compatibles include one.

Buying genuine on this range is mostly about range and longevity rather than function. The compatibles code to the same receivers and cost considerably less. What ATA's own handset gives you is the transmitter the receiver was designed around, which shows up at distance and on doors behind masonry.

If a brand new genuine remote will not code at all, the receiver is the thing to look at rather than the handset. CRX receivers of this vintage do fail, and an Allgate technician can test one rather than leaving you to buy a second remote to find out.

Battery safety

This product is supplied with a 23A 12V battery, which is not a coin battery. Keep new and used batteries out of reach of children, and dispose of used batteries safely. A flat battery can still cause harm.

Delivery, returns and fitting

Shipping costs and delivery times are shown beside the Add to cart button above. Unused parts can be returned by post within 30 days of purchase for a full refund, with return postage paid by you. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law apply on top of that, so if the part you receive turns out not to suit your opener, call us before you program it and we will work out what does. Our full terms of sale are set out on the Allgate terms and conditions page.

Most customers fit and code a new part themselves in a few minutes using the instructions supplied. If you would rather have it done, an Allgate technician can program and test it on site anywhere we work, which is every suburb listed on the Sydney service areas page.

Not sure the ATA PTX-4 Genuine Remote is the right part?

Buying the wrong remote is the most common mistake we see, and it is almost always avoidable with one photograph. Send a clear shot of the front and the back of your existing unit, plus one of the motor if you can reach it safely, to service@allgate.com.au and our team will tell you exactly which part suits your opener. If you would rather talk it through, our domestic line is 1300 736 683, Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm. Commercial and strata customers can reach a technician on 1300 655 600 at any hour, on any day.

You can also search the catalogue by the model number printed on your existing handset, which is the fastest way to find the match yourself.
